Napa Valley Wine Train
Champagne Vista Dome Car
Perfect views to enjoy the manicured vineyards and unique architecture of Napa Valley's wineries during lunch ... or enjoy a romantic starlit dinner excursion.
This 'circa' 1950 glass domed Railcar is beautifully appointed in velveteen high-backed chairs for maximum comfort and elevated dining during the 3-hours.
The Vista Dome Car has it's own specialized kitchen for freshly preparing the daily and special events menus.
Private groups up to 56 may charter this car and enjoy the variety in choices on the daily menu. Depending on budget, private groups may also opt for "paired food & wine menu" custom designed by Executive Chef Kelly Macdonald.
Favorite ongoing events in the Vista Dome include our weekly Vintners Luncheon Series on Fridays, monthly Appellations Dinners (either Sundays or Thursdays) ... and our newest program the Moonlight Escapade (those dates vary depending on Mother Nature).
Dining Cars
When passengers board the Napa Valley Wine Train for the serene journey through Napa Valley's picturesque landscape, they step back into an era when rail travel was epitome of elegance.
Passengers are mentally transported by the surroundings of the Honduran mahogany paneling, brass accents, etched glass partitions, brocade & velveteen fabrics reflective of the finest in early 20th century Venice-Simplon Orient Express and the Andalusian Express European Railroads.
The Wine Train's elegance was born from local craftsmen, whose skills gave new life to rail cars and locomotives would have been abandoned in junk yards. All of these "turn-of-the-century" Dining, Parlor, Chef du Cuisine Kitchen car were purchased from throughout United States and Canada.
Each Pullman Lounge Car has velveteen covered cushioned armchairs that swivel 360-degrees and six four-person booths for passengers to enjoy cocktails and the views. The Gourmet Express Dining Cars have tables for two or four people and are lavishly dressed in velvet and brocade fabrics, brass lighting fixtures, damask linens, silver flatware and can accommodate 60 - 70 people in each.
Another 1915 Pullman Car, originally built for the Southern Pacific, serves as the Napa Valley Wine Train 'Chef de Cuisine' kitchen car, featuring a stainless steel 'state'-of-the-art' galley. Executive Chef Kelly Macdonald and his culinary crew freshly prepare all meals onboard as they are ordered.
Guests truly enjoy viewing the Chefs in action from the mahogany-paneled passageway & observation windows.
Whether it's dining on gourmet cuisine, enjoying a brandy in the Parlor Cars or sipping a fine varietal in the Wine Tasting Car, passengers aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train are assured a luxurious journey in a relaxing and scenic atmosphere!
Silverado Railcar
The newest Railcar, The Silverado, was refurbished and put on line in 1998. This Railcar has quickly become a favorite with its casual atmosphere and sliding windows to capitalize on the wonderful moderate climate of the Napa Valley.
An 'a la carte' menu of 'lighter fare' is offered during the luncheon excursions and freshly prepared 'as ordered' onboard from the specially designed kitchens. Package menu option is available for Group Charters and seasonally for special excursions.
To reflect California's rich frontier heritage, some of the decor includes the collection of "Hollywood Western Movie Stars," donated to Wine Train's owner, Vincent DeDomenico, by Academy~Award winning Actor, Robert Redford.
Immediately adjoining the Silverado Car is the Wine Tasting Car which is open to all train passengers.
The Silverado Car operates an 'a la carte' menu during luncheon excursion (seasonally) and can be chartered for groups up to 50. Special 3-course meal packages are available for groups offering a choice of entrees. Meals are freshly prepared for groups also. We ask that you do not board the Train with food purchased or prepared elsewhere, thank you.
